Looks like 4300, slightly weaker... if the price is reasonable it could be good budget option

    its definatly slower.
in all benchmarks, once you reach 3 ghz, its noticably slower then the allendale at the same speed.

its more like a neuterd allendale.

    Allendale with half cache disabled

Funny they are called Pentiums. Back in the day the full-fledged chips were
the Pentiums and the half-cache ones were Celerons...

Interesting... given it's price (projected to be $84/1000sku when it's released
in June), it is a killer little chip.

This'll be killer for BOINC-based crunching if it clocks decently....cache means so little with those apps.

This CPU is a good option for a budget dualcore-system based on intel.

Wow, very nice CPU for a good price.

But what are the rest of the specs?

Is it like a 90$ CPU on a 300$ motherboard?

Wonder how it performs on a AsRock VIA board....

    nice nice

overclocks to 3GHz too looks like intel is responding to 3600+

and 8x and 9x multipliers are plenty good for any motherboard pretty much....even the elcheapo of cheap ones too

333MHz FSB is dead easy on anything as is 375MHz for 8xmulti

LOL... 100$ for a mobo just to get any performance out of it (prolly wouldn't clock very well on those cheap mobo's).

40-50$ is more the range I'm thinking about, which suits a < 100$ CPU.

    LOL

No if everything were a dollar I wouldn't be able to buy anything as I do not live in the US

But hey, let's look at AMD platform... wow 40$ for a mobo, excellent performance (equal to the 100$ mobo) and even some overclocking :P

Mobos don't need to be expensive, they never were but the last couple of years the prices been spiking to 300$ and above... That's just crazy...
